MapMetrics, a leading Web3 drive-to-earn navigation application, has made a strategic decision to migrate its entire platform to peaq, a layer-1 blockchain renowned for its DePIN (Decentralized Precision Infrastructure Network) and Machine RWAs (Real-World Assets). This move signifies a significant shift for MapMetrics, which originally built its infrastructure on Solana.

Over the past year, MapMetrics has been gradually integrating peaq into its platform, recognizing the immense potential of peaq’s ecosystem. Now, the company has decided to fully transition to peaq in order to take advantage of the advanced functionalities offered by the blockchain.

One of the key features that sets MapMetrics apart from traditional navigation apps is its innovative model where drivers are rewarded for using the navigation dApp. This unique approach has resonated with users, leading to over 55,000 installations in 177 countries.

Through strategic partnerships, such as the collaboration with Microsoft to enhance Bing Maps, MapMetrics has demonstrated its ability to revolutionize the navigation landscape. The migration to peaq is seen as a natural progression for MapMetrics, as it aims to enhance the efficiency and reliability of its services by leveraging peaq’s robust infrastructure.

Brent van der Heiden, co-founder of MapMetrics, emphasized the importance of aligning with a network that prioritizes stability and scalability. He stated, “peaq provides us with stable transactions, machine data verification, and a synergistic DePIN-focused ecosystem, enabling us to elevate MapMetrics to new heights.”

Till Wendler, co-founder of peaq, highlighted the crucial role of navigation services in real-world industries. He noted, “MapMetrics’ migration to peaq underscores the growing significance of blockchain technology in revolutionizing traditional sectors.”

The migration to peaq will be carried out in multiple stages, including the deployment of smart contracts, token minting, and interface updates. This move is expected to further solidify MapMetrics’ position as a leader in the drive-to-earn navigation space and showcase the transformative power of blockchain technology in real-world applications.
