Yung Filly, a popular YouTuber and British rapper, has found himself in hot water after being charged with rape allegations in Australia. The 29-year-old, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, was arrested in Brisbane and extradited to Perth for a court hearing.
The charges against Barrientos include four counts of sexual penetration without consent, three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, and one count of impeding a person’s normal breathing or circulation by applying pressure on their neck. The alleged incident took place after a nightclub performance in Perth on 28 September.
As a result of the serious allegations, the live performance of The Chunkz and Filly Show podcast, where Barrientos was set to appear alongside internet personality Chunkz, has been cancelled. The podcast, which features interviews with rappers and influencers, was scheduled to take place in east London on 18 October.
In addition to the podcast cancellation, Barrientos has also faced repercussions from other partnerships. The Football Association (FA) has cancelled an online cookery series that Barrientos was set to star in with England footballers, and FootAsylum has suspended their contract with him.
Barrientos, who has a large following on social media and has appeared on various TV shows in the UK, has won a MOBO Award for best media personality in 2021. The legal proceedings in Australia are ongoing, and his representatives have been contacted for comment on the situation.
