In a dramatic turn of events, Democrat Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and Republican Joe Kent have emerged as the top two candidates in Washington state’s 3rd congressional district primary, setting the stage for a highly anticipated showdown in November.
Gluesenkamp Perez, who currently holds the congressional seat, surprised many two years ago when she defeated Kent, who had the backing of former President Trump. Despite facing an uphill battle in a traditionally Republican district, Gluesenkamp Perez managed to secure the seat, becoming known for her bipartisan voting record.
On the other hand, Kent, a Special Forces Combat Veteran endorsed by Trump, is seeking to reclaim the seat and has vowed to focus on growing the economy, stopping inflation, securing the border, and protecting Second Amendment rights.
The primary also saw Republican Leslie Lewallen and Independent John Saulie-Rohman in the race, but ultimately it was Gluesenkamp Perez and Kent who emerged as the top contenders.
With the stage set for a one-on-one matchup in November, all eyes will be on Washington state’s 3rd congressional district as these two candidates battle it out for the seat. Stay tuned for more updates on this closely watched race.
