The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating a two-vehicle crash that injured several crew members on the set of the movie “The Pickup,” Amazon MGM Studios confirmed on Wednesday.

The crash, which occurred on Saturday at a small airport outside Atlanta, involved an armored truck and an SUV. According to sources with direct knowledge of the situation, at least six crew members were injured and transported to a hospital. One person remained hospitalized on Wednesday with a back injury.

Fortunately, none of the actors in the film, including Eddie Murphy, Keke Palmer, and Pete Davidson, were involved in the crash. A video obtained by The New York Times shows the armored truck colliding with the SUV before both vehicles veer off the road and onto the grass, with the armored truck flipping on top of the SUV.

Amazon MGM Studios stated that all safety precautions were reviewed before the action sequence and monitored during filming. However, the sequence did not go as planned, resulting in crew members being injured.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, with questions arising about whether a vehicle malfunction or human error was involved. It was also noted that there was no ambulance on site to immediately tend to the victims, raising concerns about the response time for medical assistance.

The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees has initiated an inquiry into the incident, while OSHA has launched an investigation. Despite the lack of concrete details, industry experts emphasized that the movie industry typically takes careful precautions for stunts and action sequences.

As the investigation continues, the focus remains on the recovery of the injured crew members and determining the circumstances that led to the crash on the set of “The Pickup.”
