Ohio Sen. JD Vance Defends Trump’s Campaign Strategy Amid Rising Poll Numbers for Harris
Ohio Sen. JD Vance stood firm in his support of former President Trump’s campaign strategy, stating that he doesn’t believe Trump “needs to pivot” despite recent polls showing Vice President Harris gaining ground.
Speaking at the Milwaukee Police Association, Vance addressed reporters who questioned whether Trump should focus more on policy and less on personal attacks. Vance responded by emphasizing Trump’s authenticity and unscripted nature, contrasting it with what he perceives as Harris’ reliance on teleprompters.
“I’d much rather have a political candidate who I disagreed with 25% of the time, but was a real human being and was willing to speak off the cuff than to have somebody like Kamala Harris,” Vance stated.
While acknowledging the importance of policy discussions, Vance reiterated his belief that Trump’s authenticity resonates with voters. He emphasized the need for Trump to continue being himself and connecting directly with the American people.
Despite recent polls showing Harris leading in key swing states, Vance pointed to a Fox News Poll where Trump is leading nationally. Polling expert Nate Silver also noted that Harris is currently ahead in several crucial states, but cautioned against drawing definitive conclusions this early in the election cycle.
As the campaign season progresses, Vance remains confident in Trump’s approach and believes that his unscripted nature will continue to resonate with voters.
