The Ethereum scaling solution zkSync is set to distribute its newly launched token, zkSync (ZK), to over 695,000 eligible wallets next week. This airdrop will see nearly 3.68 billion tokens distributed, representing 17.5% of the total token supply.
To be eligible for the airdrop, users must have interacted with zkSync’s networks before the snapshot date in March. Criteria for eligibility include various interactions with smart contracts, ERC-20 tokens, and DeFi protocols. Each eligible wallet can receive up to 100,000 tokens.
The majority of the airdropped tokens will go directly to network users, with the remainder supporting projects and communities within the zkSync ecosystem. Special drops will also be allocated to players of “Crypto: The Game,” NFT holders, and previous airdrop recipients.
The distribution of tokens will begin next week and continue until 2025, allowing token holders to participate in governance immediately. This approach aims to increase community involvement and trust in the project’s long-term vision.
Despite recent controversy over attempting to trademark the term “zero-knowledge,” zkSync developer Matter Labs remains committed to the project’s success. With a focus on community engagement and development, zkSync’s airdrop signals a new chapter in the project’s growth and evolution.
