The Connecticut Huskies secured their second consecutive NCAA men’s basketball national championship title after a dominant performance against the Purdue Boilermakers, winning 75-60 on Monday night.

The Huskies have now won 12 straight NCAA tournament games and have maintained their streak of defeating opponents by double digits, showcasing their prowess on the court. This victory marks the sixth NCAA men’s basketball title for the school, with the last two under head coach Dan Hurley.

The game was anticipated to be a showdown between Purdue’s Zach Edey and UConn’s Donovan Clingan in the paint. While Edey put up an impressive performance with 37 points and 10 rebounds, it was UConn’s guards who ultimately made the difference on the scoreboard.

Tristen Newton led the Huskies with 20 points, followed by Cam Spencer with 11 points and Stephon Castle with 15 points. Clingan contributed 11 points, five rebounds, and a block to help secure the victory.

The game started off as a close battle between Edey and Clingan, but UConn pulled away in the second half, extending their lead with strong offensive plays. The Huskies’ defense also played a crucial role in limiting Purdue’s scoring opportunities.

In terms of shooting, Purdue struggled from beyond the arc, making only one three-pointer out of seven attempts. UConn fared slightly better, making six threes out of 22 attempts and shooting 48.4% from the field as a team. The Huskies also out-rebounded Purdue 35-28.

Overall, UConn’s well-rounded performance and strong team chemistry led them to victory, solidifying their status as the top team in college basketball.
