Popular Twitch streamer Zach Hoyt, known as Asmongold, has been suspended from the platform after making controversial comments about Palestinians in a video. Asmongold, who has a massive following of over five million on Twitch, issued an apology on X, stating that he will “do better”.
The remarks made by Asmongold in the video led to his account being temporarily unavailable for violating community guidelines. In the clips that circulated online, Asmongold appeared unsympathetic towards Palestinians affected by the Israel-Gaza conflict.
The UN recently condemned the high number of civilian casualties in Gaza due to Israeli strikes. Asmongold later posted on X acknowledging his mistake and expressing regret for his comments.
Twitch’s community guidelines prohibit discriminatory behavior and content that promotes inferiority based on protected characteristics. Asmongold’s fellow streamers, including BrookeAB and Hasan Piker, criticized his comments as racist.
Asmongold, who often discusses news and trending topics on his Zachrawrr channel, has not commented on his suspension. Twitch does not allow suspended users to use their other accounts while banned. The streamer’s fans and followers are eagerly awaiting his response to the situation.
