The 2024 Tribeca Festival is set to showcase an exciting lineup of world premieres, documentaries, and feature films that are sure to captivate audiences from June 5-16 in Lower Manhattan. Organizers announced on Wednesday that the festival will kick off with the documentary “Diane von Furstenberg: Woman in Charge” and will feature 103 features from 114 filmmakers in 48 countries.
One of the highly anticipated films is the documentary “Brats,” which will reunite members of the iconic Brat Pack from the 1980s and ’90s, including Andrew McCarthy, Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, and Ally Sheedy. The film will explore their journey in Hollywood and will be followed by a panel discussion with the cast.
Actress Lily Gladstone, fresh off a successful awards season, will star in “Jazzy,” a collaboration with writer and director Morrisa Maltz. The festival will also premiere the documentary “Avicii — I’m Tim,” which chronicles the life of the late electronic dance music producer Avicii through his own words.
In addition to these films, the festival will feature a teen love story starring Jenna Ortega, a buddy comedy with Michael Cera, Maya Erskine, and Kristen Stewart, and a documentary on the world of queer stand-up comedy. Musical performances by Linda Perry, Renée Elise Goldsberry, and Sister Nancy will also be part of the lineup.
Cara Cusumano, the director of the Tribeca Festival, expressed her excitement about the diverse and thought-provoking selection of films chosen from a record-high number of submissions. She highlighted the festival’s focus on timely issues such as global conflict, the 2024 presidential election, and artificial intelligence, while also ensuring there is plenty of comedy and entertainment for attendees to enjoy.
With a mix of star-studded premieres, insightful documentaries, and engaging performances, the 2024 Tribeca Festival promises to be a must-attend event for film enthusiasts and industry professionals alike.
