Title: Brooklyn Couple Discovers Love for Cabin Living in Upstate New York

Natale and Sebastien Adgnot, a couple from Brooklyn, never imagined themselves owning a cabin in the woods. However, the pandemic changed everything.

After feeling cramped in their city apartment during lockdown, the couple decided to rent a house in Livingston Manor, N.Y., for a month in the summer of 2020. To their surprise, Natale fell in love with the idea of living in the countryside and discovered a flourishing art scene in the area.

This newfound appreciation for rural living led the Adgnots to purchase a log house in New Paltz, despite its initial unappealing appearance. With the help of architect Lynn Gaffney, they embarked on a major renovation project, transforming the dark and dingy cabin into a bright and modern living space.

The couple’s journey to embracing cabin life included unique experiences like Mr. Adgnot dragging a dead deer out of their pond on their first day as homeowners. Despite the challenges, they have created their ideal rustic escape, complete with a wood-fired cedar hot tub and a stocked fishing pond.

Now, the Adgnots have fully embraced their new lifestyle, finding peace and inspiration in their renovated cabin in the woods. As Mr. Adgnot puts it, they have “pushed the envelope of what this house could be and made it everything we wanted.”
