Strictly Come Dancing kicked off its first results show of the season on Sunday night, with hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly overseeing the tense dance-off that saw two contestants fighting for their spot in the competition.

Three-time Olympic champion Tom Dean and his partner Nadiya Bychkova went head-to-head against popstar Toyah Willcox and her partner Neil Jones in the dreaded dance-off. After both couples performed their routines again, the judges had to make the tough decision of who to save.

In the end, it was Dean who had to bid farewell to the dancefloor, as his cha cha fell short compared to Willcox’s jive. Despite the disappointment, Dean expressed gratitude for the experience and praised his partner for their hard work.

The first live show on Saturday saw all 15 couples take to the dancefloor, with Love Island star Tasha Ghouri impressing the judges and topping the leaderboard with her Viennese waltz. Other standout performances included comedian Chris McCausland and DIY SOS star Nick Knowles, who both received praise for their routines.

However, Willcox and Jones found themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard for the second week in a row, highlighting the tough competition this season. More than six million viewers tuned in to watch the live show on BBC One.

This year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing has not been without controversy, with allegations of abusive behavior from former contestants. The BBC has launched an investigation into these claims and has implemented changes behind the scenes to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.

Despite the challenges, the show must go on, and the remaining contestants will continue to dazzle viewers with their dance moves in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more updates on Strictly Come Dancing 2024.
