The Democratic Party has recently selected Tim Walz as Kamala Harris’ running mate for the upcoming election. However, within hours of the announcement, the party has been quick to label him as a moderate Midwesterner in an attempt to cover up what some are calling his “crazy” behavior.
During the summer of 2020, while Minneapolis was engulfed in riots and looting, Walz took three days to call out the National Guard, leading many to question his leadership abilities. Additionally, he has been criticized for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, setting up a hotline for people to report their neighbors for not wearing masks outdoors and implementing strict restrictions on gatherings and businesses.
Furthermore, Walz has been accused of sending elderly COVID patients back into nursing homes, potentially causing more deaths. He has also signed bills allowing doctors to perform gender reassignment surgeries on minors and making Minnesota a sanctuary state for such procedures.
Despite these controversies, the Democratic Party is trying to portray Walz as a moderate candidate, emphasizing his military service and hunting background. However, critics argue that the party is abandoning its usual progressive values in favor of a more moderate image.
As the election approaches, the debate over Tim Walz’s suitability as a vice presidential candidate continues to intensify.
