TikTok to Launch AI-Powered Avatars for Ad Creation
TikTok is set to revolutionize the advertising industry with the introduction of AI-powered avatars for ad creation. This new feature, part of the TikTok Symphony creative AI suite, will allow brands to create and localize content more effectively.
The AI-powered avatars, including “stock avatars” and “AI dubbing,” are generated from videos of real paid actors licensed for commercial use. Brands can select an AI-powered voice and accent to read out scripts, which will then be dubbed onto the avatars.
One of the key features of this tool is its text-to-speech technology, which matches the dubbed voices with the actors’ lip movements. This supports multiple languages, including English, Spanish, German, and Japanese, making content accessible to a broader audience. The AI can even generate the script itself.
Currently in beta, the AI avatars, translation, and dubbing features are available to a limited number of users through a waitlist. Additionally, TikTok is testing “custom avatars” that replicate popular content creators and brand representatives, with the same multilingual abilities as the stock versions.
Videos created with TikTok’s AI tools will be labeled as “AI-generated,” ensuring viewers are aware of the content’s origin. While the technology still faces some challenges, such as mismatched mouth movements and gestures, it is expected to simplify content localization and creation.
In related news, AI startup Synthesia has enhanced its AI avatars to display accurate emotional reactions. This advancement in AI technology is set to transform the advertising industry and provide brands with new opportunities to engage with their audiences.
