Celebrity Chefs Sara Kramer and Sarah Hymanson Brave Santa Ana Winds to Host Garden Party Celebrating Cookbook Release

Southern California’s notorious Santa Ana winds were no match for celebrity chefs Sara Kramer and Sarah Hymanson as they hosted a garden party in Los Angeles to celebrate the release of their first cookbook, “Kismet.” Despite the gusty conditions, the duo remained calm and collected, showcasing their culinary expertise and hosting skills.

The event took place at Kramer’s Echo Park hilltop home, where guests were treated to a picturesque setting complete with a lush garden and stunning sunset. The menu featured dishes from their cookbook, including carrot-and-smoked fish borek and a colorful array of crudités with horseradish labneh and herbed tahini dips.

Among the attendees were industry colleagues and friends, including restaurant owners, chefs, and creatives from the food and entertainment world. The table was set with a beautiful spread of dishes on a reclaimed Douglas fir table, adorned with handblown glass carafes and floral arrangements.

The evening’s menu included artichokes with nigella seeds, Moroccan spiced carrots, frisée and golden beet salad, shrimp with rose and sage, and branzino cooked in a wood oven. For dessert, guests enjoyed sugar-dusted pecan and cinnamon balls and chocolate from a local brand.

Guests sipped on blood orange Negroni and nonalcoholic beverages, curated by a friend of Hymanson. The music playlist, curated by Kramer, set the tone for the evening, transitioning from light and easy tunes to funkier beats as the night progressed.

Conversations flowed throughout the evening, with guests bonding over their love for spicy food, shared experiences living in Brooklyn, and admiration for a renowned chili breeder. The hosts emphasized the importance of preparation but also encouraged a laid-back approach to hosting, allowing guests to enjoy themselves without feeling micromanaged.

Overall, the garden party was a success, showcasing Kramer and Hymanson’s talent for creating memorable culinary experiences and bringing together a diverse group of guests for a night of celebration and camaraderie.
