The residents of a Washington D.C. neighborhood were left shocked and frustrated after a group of brazen thieves were caught on camera ransacking their mailboxes. The bandits, who were seen wearing masks, left an unsettling message on the surveillance video, saying “I love you, daddy.”

According to video footage obtained by FOX 5, the thieves were seen stealing from residents’ mailboxes in a Northwest D.C. neighborhood. The footage showed four individuals rummaging through the apartment building’s mail slots, leaving residents feeling violated and helpless.

“It’s frustrating. I feel like there’s no recourse. I can’t call the police even if I have them on video,” one resident, Adams Morgan, told FOX 5. The residents also mentioned that their Amazon packages have gone missing, but thankfully, the company has been good at reimbursing them or sending replacements.

Postal inspectors are now investigating the string of thefts and have offered a $100,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the thieves. The community is on edge as they wait for justice to be served and for their sense of security to be restored.
