The An family, known for their expertise in taekwondo, became real-life heroes when they stopped a sexual assault at their family’s taekwondo school in Katy, Texas. Simon An, along with his parents, older sister, and younger brother, arrived at the school to prepare for evening classes when they heard a scream that sounded like it was straight out of a horror movie.
Without hesitation, the An family sprang into action and intervened in the attack next door, ultimately delivering the attacker to the police. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez of Harris County confirmed the heroic act on Facebook, praising the An family as “a group of good Samaritans.”
The attacker, identified as Alex Robinson, now faces a felony charge of attempted sexual assault thanks to the quick thinking and bravery of the An family. Sheriff Gonzalez commended the family for utilizing their training and discipline to stop the assault and hold the attacker until law enforcement arrived.
Simon An recounted the harrowing experience, describing how his father, Han An, bravely confronted the attacker and pinned him down despite being scratched, bitten, and punched. The family worked together to ensure the safety of the victim and prevent the attacker from escaping.
The An family’s dedication to taekwondo and their commitment to protecting others was evident in their actions that day. Simon An emphasized the importance of using one’s power to protect people, a value instilled in him by his father who has an eighth-degree black belt.
The attacker is currently held on a $100,000 bond at the Harris County jail and is set to appear in court on Friday. The An family’s heroic actions serve as a reminder of the impact individuals can have when they stand up against injustice and protect those in need.
