The Library of Congress has announced the 25 new titles that will be inducted into the National Recording Registry in 2024, and the list includes some iconic albums and songs that have left a lasting impact on American culture.

Among the inductees are albums by ABBA, The Notorious B.I.G., Blondie, Green Day, and the Chicks. Gene Autry’s 1949 version of “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer” will also be inducted, following last year’s induction of Mariah Carey’s, “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden stated that these titles are “worthy of preservation for all time based on their cultural, historical, or aesthetic importance in the nation’s recorded sound heritage.”

Other notable inductees include Puerto Rican singer Héctor Lavoe’s “El Cantante,” Mexican singer Juan Gabriel’s “Amor Eterno,” Jefferson Airplane’s “Surrealistic Pillow,” and Lily Tomlin’s comedy album “This Is a Recording.”

The Notorious B.I.G.’s album “Ready to Die,” Blondie’s “Parallel Lines,” and ABBA’s “Visitors” are among the albums that will be preserved in the National Recording Registry, showcasing the diverse range of music that has shaped American history and culture.

With a total of 650 titles now in the registry, these new additions continue to highlight the rich tapestry of sounds that have defined the nation’s musical landscape.
