Texas Woman Grieves Loss of Baby After Hit-and-Run Incident
A Texas woman, Casi Hughes, is mourning the tragic loss of her baby after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while walking across a street back to her home after watching a fireworks show on July 3. Hughes, who was eight months pregnant at the time, recounted the harrowing experience to FOX 4, expressing her disbelief and sorrow over the incident.
“I want to know why they didn’t stop,” Hughes said, reflecting on the moment she was hit by the vehicle. She realized she had lost her son while being flown to the hospital, pleading with first responders to save her baby. Despite her efforts, the baby did not survive.
The suspect, driving a white or silver passenger vehicle, fled the scene, leaving Hughes with fractures to her face, back, pelvis, and left leg. The Palestine Police Department is actively investigating the incident and seeking information from the public to identify the perpetrator.
Hughes, a mother to a 20-year-old stepdaughter and a 13-year-old son, is now focused on her recovery and seeking justice for her lost baby. She urged anyone with information to come forward and help bring closure to the devastating situation.
As the community rallies around Hughes in support, the search for the hit-and-run driver continues. The Palestine Police Department has asked anyone with information to contact them or the Anderson County Crimestoppers’ Tip Line. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are determined to find the responsible party and hold them accountable for their actions.
