BTS’s Suga Apologises for Electric Scooter Incident
Suga from K-pop sensation BTS has issued a public apology after being fined for driving an electric scooter while intoxicated in Seoul. The 31-year-old rapper took to social media to express his remorse, stating that he was “very heavy-hearted and apologetic” for disappointing his fans.
In his post, Suga admitted that he had violated the road traffic act by using an electric scooter under the influence. He recounted how he fell while parking the scooter in front of his house, leading to a police officer administering a breathalyser test, resulting in his license being revoked and a fine being imposed. Reports from South Korea’s Yonhap news agency revealed that his blood alcohol level was 0.08%.
Despite no injuries or property damage occurring, Suga took full responsibility for his actions, pledging to ensure that such incidents do not happen again in the future. This incident comes as BTS is currently on hiatus, with members fulfilling their mandatory military service. Suga, who started his service last year as a social service agent, was deemed unfit for regular combat duty due to a shoulder surgery in 2020.
BTS’s record label, Bighit, also issued an apology for the incident, expressing regret for the artist’s inappropriate behavior. They assured that Suga is prepared to accept any disciplinary actions for causing a social disturbance and vowed to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. Fans have shown their support for Suga during this challenging time, emphasizing the importance of accountability and learning from mistakes.
