Professional dancer Aljaž Škorjanec is set to make a dazzling return to the dance floor on Strictly Come Dancing this autumn after a two-year hiatus. The Slovenian dancer, known for his incredible talent and charm, will be joining 14 other professionals for the show’s 20th anniversary.
After taking a break from the show, Škorjanec, 34, expressed his excitement about returning, stating, “I had an absolute ball during my nine-year stint on Strictly. During my time away, I became a parent, which has been an exciting challenge in itself, and now I’m ready to experience the Strictly magic again.”
The talented dancer, who welcomed his first child, Lyra, with his wife and former Strictly professional Janette Manrara in July 2023, shared his joy at being back on the show. He mentioned missing the fun, glitter, and the judges, and expressed his hope to make his daughter proud.
Škorjanec, a 19-time champion in Ballroom, Latin, and Ten dance, has had remarkable success on the show in the past. He famously lifted the Glitterball trophy with celebrity partner Abbey Clancy in his debut year in 2013 and was a runner-up with Gemma Atkinson in 2017.
Strictly’s executive producer, Sarah James, expressed her delight at Škorjanec’s return, stating, “During his nine series, he was a firm favorite with viewers across the country. I’m sure everyone is in for a treat as he joins us to entertain the nation for a very special 20th year of the show.”
Fans of the show can look forward to seeing Škorjanec back in action, bringing his incredible talent and infectious energy to the dance floor once again. It’s sure to be a season to remember as Strictly celebrates its milestone anniversary with one of its beloved stars back in the lineup.
