Serena Williams Denied Access to Paris Restaurant, Staffer Claims Unrecognizability
A staffer worker at a Paris restaurant has claimed that one of her colleagues did not recognize American tennis legend Serena Williams, leading to her being denied access to the establishment.
Williams took to social media to express her frustration, writing, “Yikes @peninsulaparis I’ve been denied access to rooftop to eat in a empty restaurant of nicer places but never with my kids. Always a first.”
According to Maxime Mannevy, a worker at The Peninsula’s rooftop restaurant, Williams was with another woman and a stroller and appeared “unrecognizable” to the staff. He explained that there were only two available tables, both of which had been reserved by hotel clients.
The Paris Peninsula responded to Williams’ critique, offering their “deepest apologies” for the disappointment she encountered and expressing their continued honor in welcoming her.
Williams, who was in Paris to attend the Olympics, has yet to comment further on the incident. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
