National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) to Hold Special Trading Session Today

In a unique move to test the resilience of their disaster recovery systems, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will be holding a special live trading session today, Saturday, March 2. This session is part of the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and Disaster Recovery Site (DRS) management system.

During this special trading session, the Primary Site (PR) will be switched over to the Disaster Recovery (DR) site to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the backup systems in place. This switch over is crucial in ensuring that operations can continue seamlessly in the event of any unforeseen disaster impacting the primary site.

Prashanth Tapse, Senior Vice President of Research at Mehta Equities, highlighted the importance of such sessions in testing the preparedness of infrastructure to handle any unexpected events and restore operations from the DR site promptly. With India being the fastest growing economy in the world, it is essential to ensure that the infrastructure remains strong enough to support any situation that may arise.

The special trading session will be divided into two phases, with a 45-minute session from 9:15 AM to 10:00 AM IST and another session from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM IST. Price bands for securities during this session will be set at a maximum of 5%, with securities currently in the 2% or lower price band remaining accessible in those bands.

Investors are advised to stay updated with the latest financial insights and consult with certified experts before making any investment decisions. The views and recommendations provided by individual analysts, experts, and broking companies are not endorsed by Mint.

Overall, the special trading session today will serve as a crucial test of the stock exchanges’ disaster recovery systems and their ability to handle any unforeseen events with minimal downtime.
