Singer Ingrid Andress Faces Criticism for National Anthem Performance at MLB Home Run Derby
The MLB Home Run Derby on Monday night at Globe Life Field was supposed to be a thrilling event, but it was singer Ingrid Andress who stole the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. The 32-year-old singer-songwriter, known for her hits on the Billboard Hot 100, faced heavy criticism for her rendition of the national anthem.
Andress, standing between the pitcher’s mound and home plate, struggled to control her pitch, especially on the higher notes of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Home Run Derby participant Alec Bohm of the Philadelphia Phillies was even caught smirking during Andress’ performance, reminiscent of the reaction to Fergie’s infamous anthem rendition at the NBA All-Star Game in 2018.
Social media was quick to react, with one user calling it “one of the worst national anthem renditions ever.” Another said Andress was “giving Fergie a run for worst national anthem ever performed.” Sports Illustrated writer Alex Carr added, “that was one of the worst national anthems I think I’ve ever heard in my whole life.”
Despite the backlash, Andress is a talented country music artist who had a breakthrough single in 2019 with “More Hearts Than Mine.” She has also written songs for other artists.
While Andress may have missed the mark with her national anthem performance, she continues to be a rising star in the music industry. Follow Fox News Digital for more sports coverage and updates on this story.
