Selena Gomez Opens Up About Inability to Carry Children

Selena Gomez, the 32-year-old singer and actor, has recently disclosed that she is unable to carry her own children due to medical issues that would put her life and the baby’s in jeopardy. In a cover interview with Vanity Fair, Gomez shared that finding out she wouldn’t be able to have a safe pregnancy is something she has had to grieve.

Gomez, who has been open about her diagnosis with lupus, an incurable autoimmune disease, has also been managing symptoms of bipolar disorder with medication. In 2017, she revealed she had a kidney transplant linked to her lupus.

Despite the challenges she faces, Gomez expressed her desire to have children and is considering surrogacy or adoption as options. She shared that she is grateful for the possibility of becoming a mother through these alternative routes.

“It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it. I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone,” Gomez said. “I’m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me.”

Gomez, who is currently in a relationship with music producer Benny Blanco, expressed her excitement for the journey ahead, stating, “At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby.”

Despite the challenges she faces, Gomez’s positive outlook and determination to become a mother are truly inspiring. Her openness about her struggles and her willingness to explore alternative paths to motherhood serve as a reminder that there are many ways to create a family filled with love and joy.
