Manhunt underway in Arizona for suspect who threatened to kill former President Trump
A manhunt is currently underway in Arizona for a suspect who threatened to kill former President Trump ahead of a rally in the Copper State on Thursday. The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect as 66-year-old Ronald Lee Syvrud.
Syvrud has outstanding warrants from the state of Wisconsin for DUI, failure to appear for DUI, and from Graham County, Arizona, for hit-and-run and felony failure to register as a sex offender. He is also listed on the Wisconsin Department of Corrections sex offender registry for “second-degree sexual assault of a child” with an Arizona address.
Court records show that Syvrud was most recently charged with assault in June, but the charge was dropped in July. The sheriff’s office posted on Facebook that Syvrud is being sought “as an investigative lead for threats to kill a presidential candidate,” with Fox News Digital confirming that the candidate is Trump.
The threat against Trump comes after an assassination attempt on the former president during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania last month. Trump, who is currently campaigning for the November election, appeared to be unaware of the manhunt during a press conference in Arizona on Thursday.
The U.S. Secret Service is aware of and tracking the manhunt and has referred all further inquiries to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office. The Trump campaign has been reached out to for a response.
As the manhunt continues, the former president remains focused on his campaign efforts, visiting the southern border in Cochise County, Arizona, while campaigning across battleground states. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
