A new hotel has opened in Oxford, England, bringing a touch of history and elegance to the city known for its prestigious university. The Store, a 101-room property, is housed in the building that once belonged to Boswells, a beloved local department store dating back to 1738. The hotel’s design was influenced by the memories and stories of local residents who shared their affection for Boswells during the development process.
The hotel features traditional college aesthetics with materials like oak parquet, brass, and leather used in the room designs. Treadwell, the hotel’s restaurant, offers British food with a twist, including a unique dish called the Ruby Murray, a butter-chicken curry pie served with chili-infused gunpowder potatoes. Guests can also enjoy a walnut-paneled spa offering yoga classes, sound baths, and treatments using products from the Welsh brand Oskia.
Before their stay, guests will receive a questionnaire to arrange special requests or interests, such as visits to the university’s colleges or literary-themed tours of the town. The hotel aims to provide a unique and personalized experience for each guest, with rooms starting at around $360 per night.
The Store in Oxford is a blend of history, luxury, and personalized service, offering guests a memorable stay in the heart of this historic city.
