The society wedding of the year took place on Friday at noon, as the seventh Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor, tied the knot with Olivia Henson at the historic Chester Cathedral in England. Despite the blustery winds, hundreds of onlookers and a few protesters gathered outside to catch a glimpse of the happy couple, as well as William, Prince of Wales, who served as an usher at the wedding.
The ceremony, officiated by the Very Rev. Dr. Tim Stratford, was a grand affair with Ms. Henson arriving in a vintage 1930 Bentley wearing a stunning silk crepe satin dress with a detachable train and a Faberge Myrtle Leaf Tiara. The cathedral was adorned with birch trees and beautiful flower decorations, which will be repurposed for local charities.
Following the ceremony, the newlyweds shared their first public kiss before heading to Eaton Hall for the reception. The duke, who inherited the estate in 2016, is one of the richest people in the UK with a fortune estimated at $13 billion. The couple announced their engagement in 2023 and plan to make Eaton Hall their home.
The duke, who chairs the board of trustees of Grosvenor, studied countryside management and is an avid skeet shooter. Ms. Henson, who attended the same school as the Princess of Wales, worked as an account manager at Belazu before the wedding. The couple’s charitable efforts include donations to the local community, such as planting flowers in Chester and providing free ice cream to visitors.
Despite the absence of Prince Harry at the wedding, the event was a lavish and heartwarming celebration of love and commitment. The newlyweds are set to begin their life together at Eaton Hall, continuing the legacy of the Grosvenor family.
