Rich Homie Quan, whose real name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar, rose to fame in the mid-2010s as one of Atlanta’s most prominent modern rappers. He was nominated for multiple BET and BET Hip Hop Awards and collaborated with industry heavyweights like 2 Chainz, Young Thug, and Gucci Mane.

Despite a troubled past that included a stint in jail for burglary, Rich Homie Quan turned his life around and found success in the music industry. Since news of his death broke, tributes have poured in from fellow artists and collaborators.

Singer Jacquees expressed his sorrow on social media, calling Rich Homie Quan a “legend” and expressing his love for the late rapper. 2 Chainz and Quavo also paid their respects, with 2 Chainz revealing that he had plans to shoot a music video with Rich Homie Quan before his untimely passing.

Engineer Alex Tumay, who worked with Rich Homie Quan, described the artist as one of the nicest people he had ever worked with and a true artist. The music world has lost a talented individual, and fans are left mourning the loss of a beloved figure in the rap scene.
