The brutal attack on a homeless man in Oklahoma City has shocked the community, with two teens in custody and police searching for several more suspects involved in the heinous crime. According to court documents obtained by KFOR, a homeless man named Tilman Shannon was viciously beaten by a large group of teens on May 26, leaving him for dead.
Surveillance video captured the disturbing incident, showing several teens yelling and threatening Shannon from a vehicle before attacking him near a dumpster in a parking lot. Oklahoma City Police have arrested Veronica Benavente, 19, and Eric Villagomez, 18, along with three other minors in connection to the assault.
The most disturbing aspect of the attack was the fact that one of the suspects, Veronica Benavente, streamed the assault on her Instagram page, where she was heard yelling racist slurs and expletives at Shannon. Police revealed that about nine teens were involved in the attack, with one of them even pulling Shannon’s colostomy bag out.
Despite suffering severe injuries, Shannon is expected to survive and is currently recovering in a local hospital. The community has been left in shock by the brutality of the attack, with residents expressing their disbelief and concern over the incident.
Veronica Benavente and Eric Villagomez are currently being held in the Oklahoma County Detention Center on charges of aggravated assault and battery, maiming, and conspiracy to commit a felony. Police are still searching for four other suspects involved in the attack. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the authorities.
