Drake Reveals the Inspiration Behind “Hotline Bling” in Newly Released Content
Drake fans are in for a treat as the Canadian rapper has dropped a massive folder of previously unseen content, including three new songs and behind-the-scenes footage. The material, totaling over 100 gigabytes, was uploaded to the website 100gigs, with Drake sharing a screenshot of the site on his Instagram Story.
Among the three unreleased songs are “It’s Up” featuring Young Thug and 21 Savage, “Housekeeping Knows” featuring Latto, and “Blue Green Red.” This release comes after a quiet period for Drake following his feud with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar.
In one of the folders, referencing his 2016 hit “Hotline Bling,” Drake explains that the song is named after someone he had a romantic encounter with, whose name he saved in his phone as “Hotline Bling.” The footage also includes clips from the music video shoot, showing Drake dancing in front of a changing color background.
Another folder references “Honestly Nevermind” and shows footage from inside the studio during the production of Drake’s 2022 album, capturing his team’s reactions to the music.
Fans have taken to social media to share their reactions to the new content, with some praising the new songs while others expressing concerns about Drake’s over-saturation in the music industry.
This release comes after Drake’s highly publicized feud with Kendrick Lamar, which reached new heights earlier this year. The two rappers exchanged insults in a series of diss tracks, with Drake accusing Kendrick of selling out and mocking his height, while Kendrick made allegations about Drake’s personal life and music.
Despite the drama, Drake’s music continues to break records, with his song “Not Like Us” setting Spotify records and topping charts in the US and UK.
