Six people found dead in a luxury hotel suite in Thailand were poisoned by drinks laced with cyanide, police have revealed. The shocking incident took place at the Grand Hyatt Erawan hotel in Bangkok, where the bodies of the victims were discovered by housekeepers.
Authorities suspect that one of the deceased individuals was responsible for the poisoning, driven by financial troubles. Two of the victims had loaned a significant amount of money to another member of the group for investment purposes, highlighting a possible motive for the tragic event.
Initially, there was confusion surrounding the cause of death, with reports suggesting a shooting had occurred. However, police later confirmed that the victims had been poisoned with cyanide.
During a press conference, Deputy Bangkok police chief Gen Noppassin Poonsawat provided more details about the sequence of events leading up to the deaths. The group had checked into the hotel separately and were assigned multiple rooms, eventually gathering in one room on the fifth floor where the poisoning took place.
Among the deceased were American citizens Sherine Chong and Dang Hung Van, as well as Vietnamese nationals Thi Nguyen Phuong, Hong Pham Thanh, Thi Nguyen Phuong Lan, and Dinh Tran Phu. Traces of cyanide were found in all six tea cups in the room, indicating a deliberate act of poisoning.
Relatives of the victims revealed that financial transactions and investments may have played a role in the tragedy. The couple who owned a road construction business had given money to one of the victims for a hospital building project in Japan, while another victim, a make-up artist from Vietnam, may have been deceived into making an investment as well.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, shedding light on the possible motives and circumstances surrounding the poisoning. The shocking discovery has left many questioning the events leading up to the tragic deaths of the six individuals in the luxury hotel suite in Thailand.
