A 25-year-old man was reportedly stabbed in the shoulder after being attacked at the Randall’s Island migrant shelter in New York City. The New York City Police Department (NYPD) confirmed that the man was stabbed at the shelter by two of the shelter’s residents on Friday evening at 8 p.m.
The suspects, identified as brothers Josue Deleon, 19, and Moises Deleon, 27, were arrested and charged with assault. The altercation reportedly broke out between two groups at the shelter following a separate stabbing earlier that day. The relationship between the victim and the suspects is still unknown.
This incident is just the latest in a series of attacks at the New York City migrant shelter. In April, five men were arrested for allegedly attacking another man in his bed and injuring a security guard during a brawl. In February, two other migrants were arrested for assaulting a security guard at the same facility.
The NYPD is actively investigating the recent stabbing and is searching for three potential accomplices. The safety and security of residents at the migrant shelter remain a top priority for law enforcement.
