Philadelphia police are on the hunt for a suspect involved in the tragic murder of an 88-year-old veteran, Richard Butler. The elderly man was shot and killed in broad daylight while sitting inside his car earlier this month.
The shooting took place on March 5 at around 1:35 p.m. in the 100 block of North Dewey Street, according to authorities. Butler was inside his SUV when the suspect approached the vehicle and fired multiple shots, hitting him twice in the chest. Despite efforts to save him, Butler succumbed to his injuries.
Police have released video footage of the suspect, who was seen wearing a gray hoodie and black shorts over black tights. The suspect was also spotted riding in a silver 2018-2019 Nissan Altima with dark-tinted windows, a dented front passenger side panel, and a Pennsylvania license plate.
The suspect is considered armed and dangerous, and a $20,000 reward is being offered for any information leading to an arrest and conviction. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting or the suspect’s identity to come forward.
