Newly Released Bodycam Footage Shows Attempted Assassin Walking on Roof Before Shooting at Trump Rally
A recent deep dive into the bodycam footage of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump has revealed chilling new details about the moments leading up to the shooting. The footage, released by the Butler Township Police Department, shows the shooting suspect, Thomas Matthew Crooks, walking on top of a roof just minutes before he fired off his deadly rounds at the campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The video, captured by a police officer’s bodycam, shows a shadowy figure emerging on top of the American Glass Research (AGR) complex building at 6:08 p.m. The figure, believed to be Crooks, can be seen roof-hopping and making his way to a shooting position on the southernmost structure of the complex.
Investigators have determined that Crooks accessed the roof by climbing up HVAC equipment and piping, traversing multiple rooftops before finding his shooting position about 150 yards from where Trump was speaking at the rally. Crooks purchased a ladder hours before the attempt but did not use it at the scene.
Crooks managed to fire off eight shots during the assassination attempt, grazing Trump’s right ear and fatally striking firefighter Corey Comperatore. Rally-goers James Copenhaver and David Dutch were also injured in the shooting.
Chilling new video released by Iron Clad USA shows Crooks casually walking through a crowd in Butler, Pennsylvania, nearly two hours before the shooting. Text messages obtained by Fox News Digital show that local law enforcement had flagged Crooks as suspicious before the shooting but did not approach him.
The newly uncovered footage sheds further light on the events leading up to the attempted assassination of former President Trump, raising questions about how the gunman evaded security measures.
