New York prosecutors uncover ‘additional wrongdoing’ Trump reportedly attempted to hide through forged business documents

Former President Donald Trump is facing new charges in Manhattan, as prosecutors revealed the alleged crime he was trying to conceal when he falsified his business records. The Manhattan District Attorney has charged Trump with 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree, claiming that he committed this crime in furtherance of another crime.

Prosecutors allege that Trump was involved in a conspiracy to unlawfully promote his candidacy for president, in violation of New York law. They claim that Trump, along with former CEO of American Media Inc. David Pecker and his attorney Michael Cohen, conspired to influence the 2016 presidential election by silencing individuals with damaging information.

Prosecutors argue that Cohen paid porn star Stormy Daniels $130,000 to keep quiet about her alleged affair with Trump, and that Trump reimbursed Cohen through his businesses while disguising the payments as legal fees. They also claim that Pecker and Cohen engaged in a practice called “catch & kill,” where they bought damaging information and prevented it from being published.

In response, Trump’s defense attorney Todd Blanche has declared his client’s innocence, arguing that the payments were not illegal and were made to protect Trump’s reputation and family. Blanche emphasized that there is nothing wrong with trying to influence an election, calling it a part of democracy.

The trial is ongoing, with both sides presenting their arguments in court. The outcome of the case will have significant implications for Trump and his legacy. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
