A Texas mother has been arrested after allegedly leaving her two young children home alone for nearly a week while she went on a cruise. Lakesha Woods Williams, 29, was taken into custody on two charges of child endangerment after leaving her 6-year-old and 8-year-old kids alone in her Houston apartment for six days.
Williams reportedly left for her cruise on April 4 and returned home on April 10, only to be arrested the following day. Concerned individuals called the Harris County Constable’s Office – Precinct 5 after discovering the children alone in the apartment. Deputies responded and found the kids, who confirmed their mother was on a cruise.
Paramedics and Child Protective Services were called to ensure the children’s safety, and they are now in the care of a relative. Constable Ted Heap emphasized the importance of holding those responsible for leaving the children in an unsafe situation accountable.
Williams was booked into the Harris County Detention Facility with a bond set at $25,000. Her court date is scheduled for Monday. The incident serves as a reminder of the consequences of leaving young children unattended for extended periods.
