The search for TV and radio presenter Dr Michael Mosley on the Greek island of Symi has come to a tragic end as a body has been found in the rocky area beside Agia Marina beach. The 67-year-old went missing on Wednesday after setting off on a walk from Agios Nikolaos beach, sparking a massive search effort involving firefighters, dogs, helicopters, drones, and local volunteers.
The body, which has yet to be formally identified, was discovered by a bar manager who was alerted by journalists and the island’s mayor. The deceased had been dead “for a number of days,” according to a police source. The location of the body, next to a fence near where children were playing in the water, has not been moved.
Dr Mosley’s wife, Dr Clare Bailey Mosley, and their four children were also on the island during the search. Dr Mosley, known for his TV programmes like Trust Me, I’m a Doctor, and popularizing diets like the 5:2 and Fast 800, had been reported missing after leaving Agios Nikolaos beach for a walk.
The news of Dr Mosley’s tragic end has shocked fans and colleagues alike, as the well-known presenter, journalist, and author had been a prominent figure in the health and wellness industry. While qualified as a doctor, he was no longer registered as a medical doctor, but his work in promoting healthy lifestyles and diets had garnered widespread attention and praise.
The investigation into Dr Mosley’s death is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and tragic end on the picturesque island of Symi.
