Ewan McGregor Honored with Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
Hollywood, CA – Star Wars and Trainspotting actor Ewan McGregor was filled with emotion as he received a star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame. The 53-year-old Scottish actor, known for his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, expressed his gratitude for the prestigious honor.
“I absolutely had no idea what it would feel like, or what it would mean, but it is meaning a great deal, and it feels very, very nice and I feel very touched by the whole thing,” McGregor said.
What made the moment even more special for McGregor was the placement of his star next to that of his late co-star Carrie Fisher, who portrayed Princess Leia in the original Star Wars films. McGregor shared, “I’m so moved that I’m close to my old friend Carrie Fisher, on the pavement here, that means a great deal to me.”
The induction ceremony was made even more memorable as former Star Wars actor Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin Skywalker, delivered a heartfelt speech honoring McGregor. Christensen described McGregor as “the best Jedi master anyone could’ve asked for” and “the coolest man on the planet.”
McGregor, accompanied by his family, reflected on his illustrious career which includes acclaimed roles in films such as Trainspotting, Fargo, and Moulin Rouge. He has also received accolades such as an OBE for services to drama and charity, an Emmy Award, and a Golden Globe.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame now boasts McGregor as its 2,789th star, solidifying his place in entertainment history. Fans can catch McGregor reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the upcoming Disney+ series set to premiere in 2022.
