Marvel actor lands first film role following accident

Marvel star Jeremy Renner has made a triumphant return to the big screen after a harrowing accident in 2023. Renner, known for his role as Clint Barton/Hawkeye in the Marvel franchise, has joined the star-studded cast of the upcoming Knives Out film, titled Wake Up Dead Man.

The actor suffered a critical injury when he was accidentally run over by his own snowplough on New Year’s Day 2023. Renner broke 38 bones, had his ribcage rebuilt with metal, and underwent multiple surgeries to repair his injuries. Despite the traumatic experience, Renner has bravely returned to work and will be seen alongside Daniel Craig, Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, Kerry Washington, and Josh O’Connor in the highly anticipated murder mystery sequel.

Director and writer Rian Johnson took to Instagram to share his excitement about the upcoming film, stating, “We’re about to go into production on it and I AM SLIGHTLY EXCITED.” Renner’s involvement in the project marks his first role since the accident, showcasing his resilience and determination to continue his acting career.

In addition to his role in the Knives Out film, Renner will also be appearing in the third season of Paramount+ TV series Mayor of Kingstown, set to be released in June.
