French fashion designer Lucien Pellat-Finet, known as the King of Cashmere, passed away on Feb. 26 at the age of 78 in Trancoso, Brazil. His bold and expensive sweaters adorned with provocative symbols like skulls and marijuana leaves made him a fashion icon.

Pellat-Finet’s collection, introduced in 1994, revolutionized the way people viewed cashmere, combining high-quality material with edgy designs. Despite the steep prices, his sweaters became a status symbol for the affluent and stylish.

Born in Nice, France, Pellat-Finet’s passion for fashion was evident from a young age. After a successful career in modeling and styling, he launched his own brand, which quickly gained popularity worldwide. His unique designs extended beyond sweaters to include jackets, scarves, and even throw pillows.

In 2019, Pellat-Finet sold his brand to Thierry Gillier, marking the end of an era in the fashion industry. He then retired to Brazil, where he tragically passed away in a swimming accident.

Pellat-Finet’s legacy lives on through his timeless designs, with hopes that his creations will continue to be cherished for years to come.
