The iconic style and glamour of Marilyn Monroe will be on display in London this October, as more than 250 items previously belonging to the Hollywood legend will be exhibited for the first time in the UK.
The exhibition, titled “Marilyn – The Exhibition,” will feature a range of items from Monroe’s personal collection, including love letters, satin robes, make-up, and even shoes worn by the star when she announced the formation of her own production company in 1954.
Curated by Ted Stampfer, who owns over 1,500 items owned by Monroe, the exhibition will offer a unique insight into the life of the legendary actress, from her origins as Norma Jeane Mortenson to her life as a public figure.
Visitors will have the opportunity to see some of Monroe’s most famous outfits, as well as memorabilia from her shoots in London and images from her meeting with Queen Elizabeth II. Stampfer expressed his delight at being able to share his personal collection with the public, stating that the items have been preserved almost like a time capsule for nearly four decades.
Despite her passing more than 60 years ago, Monroe remains a significant pop culture figure globally, known for her roles in popular films such as As Young as You Feel and Monkey Business. Her private life, including her three failed marriages and tragic death at the age of 36, continues to captivate audiences around the world.
The exhibition will be held at Arches London Bridge starting on October 18th, offering fans a chance to get closer to the real Marilyn Monroe and her true identity.
