Boeing Whistleblower Found Dead in Charleston, South Carolina
The sudden and tragic death of John Barnett, a Boeing whistleblower, has left many shocked and devastated. The 62-year-old longtime Boeing employee was found dead in his truck in Charleston, South Carolina, with a gunshot wound to the head. Barnett had recently spoken out about safety concerns he uncovered at the North Charleston plant, and his attorneys have expressed disbelief at his apparent suicide.
Barnett had just completed a deposition with Boeing’s lawyers before his death, and was reportedly in good spirits and looking forward to moving on with his life. His attorneys are calling for a full and accurate investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death, as they believe there may be more to the story.
Throughout his decades-long career at Boeing, Barnett had raised concerns about safety issues with the 787 Dreamliner jets, including a high failure rate of the emergency oxygen systems. Despite his efforts to bring these issues to light, Barnett faced retaliation from the company and ultimately filed a lawsuit.
The Federal Aviation Administration had previously corroborated some of Barnett’s allegations and ordered Boeing to take action. In response to Barnett’s passing, Boeing expressed sadness and offered condolences to his family and friends.
The investigation into Barnett’s death is ongoing, and detectives are awaiting the formal cause of death to shed further light on the circumstances. In the meantime, his attorneys remember him as a brave and honest man who cared deeply about his family, friends, and the safety of those who flew on Boeing aircraft.
