A kitten named Squishy from New Jersey narrowly escaped a tragic fate after being rescued from a waste compactor by a quick-thinking employee. Mark Motta, a worker at the Burlington County Regional Recycling Program, discovered the frightened and oil-covered kitten while checking the hydraulics of his truck on July 8.
Motta’s decision to thoroughly inspect his truck that day was out of the ordinary, but it ultimately led to the rescue of the lucky kitten. After multiple Dawn soap baths, Squishy was taken to the veterinarian and is now being fostered by Motta’s safety manager until she is ready to be adopted.
The dilute tricolor cat, now named Squishy, recently had a heartwarming reunion with Motta at the Rise Again Animal Rescue in Hammonton, New Jersey. The rescue shared updates on Squishy’s condition, stating that she is doing well after her harrowing ordeal.
While the circumstances of how Squishy ended up in the compactor remain a mystery, Motta is grateful that he was able to save her in the nick of time. Social media users expressed their relief and joy at Squishy’s safe rescue and well-being.
Although Motta is unable to adopt Squishy himself, he hopes that she will find a loving forever home. In the meantime, Squishy continues to charm everyone with her cuddly and sweet nature.
