James Madison Dukes Pull Off Upset, Defeat Wisconsin Badgers in NCAA Tournament
In a classic March Madness upset, the James Madison Dukes defeated the Wisconsin Badgers with a final score of 72-61 in the third 5-12 matchup of the tournament. The game, held at Barclays Center, saw the 12th-seeded Dukes take control early and maintain their lead throughout the matchup.
The Dukes opened the game with an impressive 18-5 run, but the Badgers fought back with an 11-3 run of their own to cut the deficit to five. However, James Madison responded with a 12-0 run to go up by 17, their largest lead of the first half.
Despite Wisconsin’s efforts to close the gap in the second half, the Dukes held on to their lead and secured the victory. This win marks James Madison’s first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2013 and their first trip to the Round of 32 since 1983.
