Israel’s air force on Wednesday continued its relentless assault on the Gaza Strip, while Hamas fighters retaliated with attacks against Israeli soldiers, signaling a failure of the United Nations Security Council resolution for a cease-fire.
Despite the resolution passed earlier in the week, Hamas’s military wing, the Qassam Brigades, vowed to continue their assaults on Israeli soldiers. In response, the Israeli military launched airstrikes on numerous targets, including tunnels, military compounds, and militants.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Senator Rick Scott and remained defiant in the face of international pressure. He criticized the U.S. for abstaining from the resolution, claiming it emboldened Hamas to continue their attacks.
The situation in Gaza remains dire, with reports of intensified bombardments in Rafah resulting in numerous casualties. Displaced Gazans are seeking shelter in the area, but are still at risk of further attacks.
The Palestine Red Crescent Society reported retrieving the bodies of two individuals killed by artillery fire in Nuseirat, while the Israeli military has yet to comment on the reports.
Hamas claimed to have targeted Israeli soldiers near Al-Shifa Hospital and in other areas, escalating tensions further. The ongoing clashes have raised concerns among humanitarian organizations about the safety of civilians in the conflict zone.
As both sides show no signs of backing down, the violence in Gaza continues to escalate, with no immediate resolution in sight.
