“NSE Conducts Special Live Trading Session for Disaster Recovery: Indian Stock Market Open Today”

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) is taking proactive measures to strengthen its operations in the event of any unforeseen incidents by conducting a special live trading session on Saturday, March 2, 2024. This session includes an intraday switchover to a disaster recovery (DR) site, ensuring the continuity of trading activities in the equity market.

Sugandha Sachdeva, Founder of WealthWave Insights, highlighted that trading in the equity and F&O segment is open during this special session, while the commodity market remains suspended as usual on weekends. Avinash Gorakshkar, Head of Research at Profitmart Securities, emphasized that the session is crucial for technical strengthening and market stability.

According to an NSE circular, the special live trading session aims to enhance the resilience of Indian exchanges. As per SEBI regulations, market infrastructure intermediaries are required to perform a switchover to their DR site as part of their business continuity plan.

The special trading session is divided into two phases, with the first phase already underway and the second phase scheduled to commence at 11:30 AM. During this session, futures contracts can fluctuate within a five percent operating range, with specific circuit limits in place to prevent excessive volatility.

Originally planned for January 20, the special session was rescheduled due to the Ram Temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. Investors are advised to consult certified experts before making any investment decisions.

In conclusion, the NSE’s special live trading session underscores the importance of preparedness and resilience in the face of potential disruptions, ensuring the smooth functioning of the Indian stock market.
