She explains how she uses the lunar cycle to inform her trading decisions, saying, “I tend to long the full moon and short the new moon.” While these methods may seem far-fetched to older generations, for Gen Z, astrology is mainstream and widely accepted.
The rise of star-gazing traders comes at a time when “retail investors,” nonprofessional traders who operate in small quantities, have surged in number. The pandemic has fueled a shift towards mobile and fluid identities, leading to a rise in the popularity of astrology apps among younger users.
For 25-year-old astrologer turned day trader Stefaniya Nova, using intuition and astrology has proven to be a successful strategy. Nova, who goes by the handle @blonderwitch on TikTok, shared that she earned close to $6,000 from trading in May alone by incorporating these unconventional methods into her trading approach.
While relying on astrology, tarot cards, or other forms of divination may seem like a leap of faith, for these traders, it’s a way to tap into the cyclical nature of the universe and make profitable trades. As the world of finance continues to evolve, it seems that the stars may hold the key to success for some traders.
