Two Jordanian nationals in the country illegally and who were arrested for trespassing on a Marine Corps base in Virginia have been released from federal custody after posting bond, federal officials confirmed to Fox News Digital.

According to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) official, Hasan Yousef Hamdan and Mohammad Khair Dabous were allowed to bond out by an immigration judge. The bonds were set at $15,000 for Hamdan and $10,000 for Dabous.

ICE stated that there was no reason to believe either man had any ties to a terrorist organization. The incident occurred on May 3 at Quantico Marine Corps Base in Virginia, where the two men were stopped at a gate in a box truck. The driver claimed they were making a delivery to the post office and worked for a company subcontracted by Amazon.

Despite being free, both men remain in removal proceedings. ICE had previously stated that one of the men had been arrested near San Ysidro, California, in April after entering the country illegally, while the other had overstayed his student visa.

While the incident raised fears of a potential terrorist attack, ICE has emphasized that there is no indication of a public safety or national security threat from the two men. They have only been charged with misdemeanor trespassing.

This incident is part of a larger trend involving illegal immigrants, amid an ongoing crisis at the southern border. Some Republicans have linked this incident at Quantico to policies of the Biden administration, accusing them of fueling the crisis by rolling back successful Trump-era policies.

The administration, on the other hand, has accused Republicans of blocking reforms and funding to address the crisis. The situation at the border continues to be a top political issue, with both sides offering differing perspectives on how to handle the influx of illegal immigrants.
