House Democrats respond to Jocelyn Nungaray murder with confusion: ‘I am not familiar with her’

House Democrats have come under fire after a video surfaced showing some members apparently downplaying the impact of illegal immigration in the tragic murder of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray in Houston. The suspects, Johan Jose Martinez-Rangel and Franklin Jose Peña Ramos, both entered the U.S. illegally near El Paso, Texas, before being released from custody and later charged with capital murder in Nungaray’s death.

When confronted by FOX Business Correspondent Hillary Vaughn about Nungaray’s murder, Rep. Summer Lee of Pennsylvania dismissed the question, saying she didn’t know who Nungaray was and refused to comment further. Similarly, Rep. Robert Garcia of California called the murder “horrific” but emphasized the need for broad asylum, border, and immigration reform.

Other Democrats, including Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington and Rep. Jerry Nadler of New York, echoed similar sentiments, citing statistics that show immigrants, both legal and illegal, commit crimes at a lower rate than native-born Americans. However, critics argue that such crimes could be preventable if stricter parole policies were in place for migrants entering the country.

The tragic death of Jocelyn Nungaray has reignited the debate on immigration policies and the need for comprehensive reform to ensure the safety and security of all individuals in the United States.
