Sarah Kristine Wood’s move to Barcelona, Spain, in February 2022 turned out to be the start of a beautiful love story. Leaving behind her high-pressure job at Goldman Sachs in New York, Ms. Wood followed her intuition that she needed to be in Barcelona, where she had studied in college.
In March, she matched with Gustavo Adolfo González Leal on the Bumble dating app. Despite living in Madrid, Mr. González was undeterred by the distance between them. The couple quickly hit it off, with Ms. Wood jokingly telling a friend after their first meeting that she thought she would marry him.
Both accomplished professionals in their own right, Ms. Wood works remotely as the chief operating officer of a start-up technology entertainment company and as a freelance lifestyles writer, while Mr. González is an associate on a strategy team for J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Their whirlwind romance saw them meeting in Barcelona, Paris, and New York, with Mr. González eventually moving in with Ms. Wood in Barcelona. The couple’s love story culminated in a beautiful proposal on a mountaintop in Majorca, Spain, followed by an intimate ceremony in New York City.
